The public-facing app name given because, as development on Bookshelf continued, it was felt that keeping it strictly internal would be a waste.
It is a Discord-like chat app that runs on standard shared hosting (i.e., hosting that supports WordPress) and can be self-hosted at low cost.
Numerous new features have been added to Bookshelf, including a server concept, voice chat functionality, custom reactions, mobile apps, permission management, kicking, banning, blocking, and custom themes.
While the source code itself is continuous, for management purposes, the period when it was operated under the jurisdiction and domain of ProjectSEKAM is referred to as Bookshelf (the app name), and the period after migrating to the React frontend (frontend2) is referred to as Discold.
It is currently under active development to be released externally as an open-source application.
Development is divided into three parts: a PHP backend, a React frontend, and a React Native mobile client. The Android version of the mobile client has already passed the review process, while the iOS version is being used internally via TestFlight and is in the process of being submitted for review.
